Whole Grain Buttermilk Waffles

Enjoy wholesome whole grain buttermilk waffles that are both delicious and nutritious. These waffles are perfect for a hearty breakfast or brunch.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour

  • 2 tablespoons sugar

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 2 cups buttermilk

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

Follow the directions that came with your waffle iron to heat it up

Mix the sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt with a whisk in a large bowl

Take out a different bowl and mix the eggs, melted butter, vanilla extract, and buttermilk with a whisk

Add the wet ingredients to the dry ones and mix them together just until they are mixed

Don't mix it too much; a few lumps are fine

Spray nonstick cooking spray or melt a little butter and use it to grease the waffle iron

Use the amount of waffle batter that comes with your specific waffle iron to pour it onto the hot iron

Close the waffle iron and cook the waffles for the time recommended by the manufacturer, which is usually three to five minutes, or until they are golden brown and crisp

Carefully take the waffles out of the iron and serve them right away with your favorite toppings
